Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College

Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) is located in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It is one of 16 two-year, open-admissions colleges of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. SKYCTC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College is a public, two-year degree granting institution serving the south central region of Kentucky. SKYCTC provides students a core foundation if they wish to transfer to a four-year university.

History
SKYCTC was established as Western Trade School in 1939. It was operated by Western Kentucky State Teachers College. The school became independent of WKU in 1962. Before it became Bowling Green Technical College, the school underwent two name changes and joined KCTCS in 1997. It was renamed the Western Area Vocational School in 1962 and to Bowling Green Regional Technology Center in 1996. On December 7, 2012, the KCTCS Board of Regents approved a request to change the name to South central Kentucky Community and Technical College. The KCTCS Board of Regents granted approval for it to award the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees.

Campuses
Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College offers classes at six different locations. Three of them are located in Bowling Green, two in Glasgow and one at Franklin. A variety of programs are offered at the Main Campus. Those include programs from Allied Health, Culinary Arts, and Applied Technology.

Programs
Programs offered at the KATI Campus include programs from Business Administration Systems, Computer and Information Technologies, Medical Information Technologies, and Office Systems. The programs that are offered at the Transpark Center are Machine Tool and Engineering Technology. The Glasgow Campus offers programs only in the field of Nursing. The Glasgow Technology Campus offers programs from Industrial Maintenance and Computer and Information Technologies. The Franklin-Simpson Center is providing customized business and industry training.

SKYCTC's Main Campus offers over 15 programs of study.

Other
All students at SKYCTC are members of a caring, supportive, and active community. The college offers a rich network of student resources and out-of-the-classroom learning opportunities. Apart from quality education, SKYCTC offers a variety of cultural, social and learning opportunities. By participating in one of the student organizations, students can build a wide network of friends and acquaintances.

Anyone can represent their fellow students as a member of the Student Government Association. Student success is SKYCTCs number one priority. The Student Government Association is the collective voice of the students.

Distance Learning
For many students who cannot attend classes on campus, Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College offers a program called Distance Learning. Distance Learning refers to courses and programs offered over the Internet. Distance Learning courses require a computer with Internet access and an e-mail account. Students who choose online learning are required to be a certain amount computer savvy. The main difference between Distance Learning and traditional courses is the delivery format. The content remains the same. SKYCTC offers five different kinds of Distance Learning classes.
